[Official] Writing and decorating your post.
« on: April 03, 2011, 01:07:29 am »
Making a post look good can be important at times. It can be extremely boring to read a long post that is dull and the same color all the way through. However, it is horrible trying to read a post with a color like yellow for the font. So, as a good reference to post design, Ive decided to make this topic.

Step One

Choosing a subject/title: Most people wait until after their post to write this, because they tend to quote a bit of the post. If however you are making a tutorial (or something similar) for (for example) how to make your first post, then call it How to make your first post.

Don't leave your readers wondering what the topic is about, make it clear from the beginning- You can explain in either the subject title or the first paragraph what its about.

Step Two

Writing the main content: You want to get in as much information as possible, keep thinking that you are explaining the process to a guy with no brain. Make sure they keep paying attention to what they are reading by for example making different steps in the tutorial or guide, like there are in this one.

Step Three

Decorating your post: Try to do this last. Decorate with colors that will be visible against the background color of the website. Do not however decorate with a horrible color like bright red with a background like this. It ends up making people want to scratch their eyes out. Try to choose a color that will look good against the final background color, NOT the text field background (white)

So, you have now got the basic knowledge of how to make a post that wont completely  bore the **** out of anyone.

Good Luck!
